We are experts in Residential Surveying and proudly provide advice and expertise to homeowners, investors and even the RICS, acting as consultants on a number of their Information and Technical papers.
As consultants to the RICS on many Technical and Information papers, Better Prepared value integrity and professionalism; and provide honest, reliable and substantiated advice every time.
Better Prepared (BPL) has been undertaking valuations and surveys since 2006. During this time, it has grown substantially.
The business is run by Mark Willis-Saunders and Ian Brindle, the co-owners. They are supported by an experienced team of admin and surveying staff.
Mark has brought a wealth of technical knowledge to the business, drawing on his experience in building Surveying and party wall matters.
Ian brings similar technical skills, having been involved in training surveyors and helping manage qualifications for nearly two decades. He also has a deep understanding of process development.
MRICS
Ian leads our team of specialists.
A former director of Valunation & Wolton Chartered Surveyors, he is fully engaged with the day to day running of the business. Ian also oversees expert witness matters, contributes to RICS valuation policy and advises various educational institutions on survey, energy and valuation related matters.
MRICS
Mark heads our Milton Keynes based team and is involved with all the inspection and survey services we provide. Mark formerly worked at esurv and Wolton Chartered Surveyors as a Building Surveyor and Valuer and then joined BPL in 2013, proven to be an integral part of the team.
Mark also deals with Expert Witness Matters, Party Wall Matters and Project Management.
MRICS
Graham has over 20 years of surveying experience having qualified with the RICS back in 2002. Graham works alongside Ian carrying out inspections and valuation across all parts of Essex and Suffolk.
AssocRICS
John joined the team in January 2017 covering the Ipswich and north part of Suffolk producing Home Buyer reports and Valuations having worked in the property market locally since the 1980s.

Julien is the newest member of the BPL team. After a successful career in motorsport, Julien joined the world of surveying in 2009 “I now carry out valuations and Level 2 Surveys, but I still hold a race licence,” said Julien. Having previously worked for e.surv Chartered Surveyors, Julien has joined our team as an operational surveyor covering parts of Essex and Suffolk

Anne has achieved 30 years’ experience in surveying, providing technical advice and guidance on mortgage valuations and expert witness reports . Anne is chair of the RICS Assigned Risks Panel, Anne has been involved with Sava since its inception and undertakes assessments for those wishing to qualify as AssocRICS surveyors.
Rachel joined us in April 2021 and has worked in the property industry since she was 19 Years old.
Rachel oversees the administration and appointment bookings alongside the office management and keeps everything running smoothly, whilst also coordinating the smooth running of the website.
Kim is our fantastic typist, she has a can-do attitude and is focused on providing exceptional customer service, she always happy to help and answer any queries that may arise. With great attention to detail and super typing speed Kim is an asset to the company. Kim started her career with Better Prepared in 2003 and has a wealth of knowledge.
Jacquie is our administrator for the Milton Keynes arm of the business, she deals with everything from quotes to diary management to payments and everything in between. She ensures all general queries are dealt with in an extremely professional manner going above and beyond to deliver a 5 star service. Jacquie is exceptionally organised, this ensures our customer are kept up to date every step of the way.
Zalina is our administrator for the Colchester arm of the business. On a daily basis she deals with quotes, diary management and general administration. She enjoys being able to accompany surveyors on property visits and her knowledge base is expanding at rapid rate. Zalina is very outgoing and is always happy to help with any queries however big or small, nothing is too much bother.
